Jihad Kawas:

Why School Is Not Ready For Us

What he does: Builds, breaks, and fixes things until they work. Ever since he was 13, Jihad got involved in building apps and companies to change the way people do the small things they do everyday. Now 17, he already founded 3 companies and is currently running his baby “Saily” the social marketplace app.

Really really good at: Disrupting classrooms.

Awesome accomplishment: Jihad won 4 major national and international business startup competitions. This summer he was selected among 5,000 developers out of 9 million applicants to attend Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference and took a #selfie with his new buddy Tim Cook CEO of Apple.

Random fact: Pancakes were made by the Ancient Greeks back in 500 BC (they had no toppings back then).

Quote: Not even a hundred sizes will fit all.

The Talk: I want to imagine what would school be like if my passion counted. What if my learning agenda counted? Can time in school be spent differently? Does school have to be irrelevant to my life?
